YEREVAN. – After the Armenia and Azerbaijan presidents’ meetings in Vienna and St. Petersburg, Armenia has again appeared in a situation when the world is not making targeted messages regarding the tension that occurred at the Karabakh-Azerbaijani border. 

Tevan Poghosyan, secretary of the opposition “Heritage” Faction of the National Assembly of Armenia, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Thursday.

“During the CSTO [i.e. the Collective Security Treaty Organization] foreign ministers’ meeting [in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan], I didn’t hear how Russia addresses Azerbaijan and says: ‘You know what, Azerbaijan, you must act within the framework of the agreements that are reached.’”

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP Sukias Avetisyan, for his part, noted that, after the Vienna and St. Petersburg meetings, the CSTO FM’s Yerevan statement was no accident.

“We are all well aware that the most important issue is the installation of surveillance mechanisms at the border,” Avetisyan added. “Every time after important meetings, Azerbaijan plays the role of someone who doesn’t comprehend, and attempts to further escalate the tension at the border. We [i.e. the Armenian side] are obligated to be ready, so that our army is able to face any situation.”
