The scientists of the University of Texas conducted research which confirmed that emotional infidelity equals to the  physical infidelity , reports the Informing. 400 people , both men and women, participated in the study . The researchers tried to find out what kind of infidelity - physical or emotional - causes more damage to the family.

Studies have shown that women are equally sensitive to their partners’ physical and emotional betrayal. Almost all of the females reported that new female colleagues or friends of their spouses give cause for concern.

The psychiatrist of New York Presbyterian Hospital, Professor Gale Zaltsn says: "If a new girlfriend seems ideal to you , whereas your wife has  become unbearable, such a company is a direct threat to your marriage ." The study found that emotional infidelity in marriage is no less dangerous than the physical .
