YEREVAN. – How many times have they made Armenia “eat” agreements, saying it is the best option for the country?

Anush Sedrakyan, vice-chairwoman of the opposition Free Democrats Party, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday. She noted this reflecting on the agreement with respect to setting up an Armenia-Russia united air defense system.

Sedrakyan maintained that, under this document, Armenia’s skies will become not so much a matter of military actions, as much as a way to “strangle” the country in commercial terms.

“I see Armenia’s ultimate future in NATO,” she added. “But NATO requires technical upgrading, [and] it requires a predictable political leadership; Armenia does not have all this.

“Certainly, the guarantor of its [i.e. Armenia’s] collective security is only NATO. But it shall grow and mature until [joining] NATO.”
