YEREVAN. – Yerevan follows the ongoing developments in Turkey.
Tigran Balayan, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia (MFA), told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
On Friday evening, media reported about a military coup attempt in Turkey. Military vehicles appeared on the streets of Ankara and Istanbul, and there were shootings and explosions.
A group of Turkish military officers announced about seizing power to restore constitutional order, and ensure human rights and freedoms in the country.
According to preliminary data, 60 people are killed. A total 336 people were arrested after the coup attempt. According to Turkish media, Colonel Muharrem Köse organized the military coup attempt in Turkey.
Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım stated that the ongoing developments are unlawful.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared that the coup attempt failed and it will be completely suppressed.
