YEREVAN. – A hotline has been set up for the Armenian citizens who have been affected by the events that have occurred in Turkey.

These Armenian citizens can call the following telephone number: +374 60 620552, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia.

Before that, however, MFA Spokesperson Tigran Balayan had informed on his Facebook account that the Armenian citizens who are currently in Turkey and need assistance should apply to the Armenian MFA, since Armenia’s interests are not represented in Turkey.

On Friday evening, media reported about a military coup attempt in Turkey. Military vehicles appeared on the streets of Ankara and Istanbul, and there were shootings and explosions.

A group of Turkish military officers announced about seizing power to restore constitutional order, and ensure human rights and freedoms in the country. 

According to most recent data, a total of 90 people are killed and more than 1,500 people are arrested.

Colonel Muharrem Köse had organized the military coup attempt in Turkey, reported the Turkish media.

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım stated that these developments were unlawful.

And Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared that the coup attempt has failed and it will be completely suppressed.
