It is indispensable to restore the full format of talks with participation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) as a full party, NKR President Bako Sahakyan told Lenta.ru, a Moscow-based online newspaper.
When asked whether there is a Karabakh conflict solution which will satisfy all, Sahakyan noted that, first and foremost, it is necessary to clarify what is meant by saying “all.”
“Aside from the direct participants in the conflict, the OSCE [i.e. the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe] Minsk Group and its co-chairing countries are also engaged in the settlement process,” said the NKR President. “All co-chairing countries—Russia, US, and France—have stated very clearly and repeatedly that the conflicting parties themselves should find a solution through peace talks.”
In his words, the solution shall be found within.
“But for this, first of all it is indispensable to restore the full format of talks with participation of the NKR as a full party,” stressed the President of Artsakh. “[But] the main obstacle on the road to settlement of the conflict is very Azerbaijan’s destructive policy, which is based on revanchism.”
