YEREVAN. - Although electricity has become cheaper in Armenia, that  will not be the case with the goods, Executive Director of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Gagik Makaryan told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

According to him, business in Armenia already works "at zero", and the slight drop in the electricity tariffs will only help take a breath, but not increase profit. "Such a slight change as 2.58 AMD will have little impact, especially in the current hard economic conditions. Therefore, the goods shouldn't be expected to get cheaper from this," Makaryan added.

Since August 1, the electricity tariff in Armenia has been lowered to 2.58 AMD per 1 kWh. But for most part of the society, it will de facto grow (because although the tariff will drop by 2.58, the 6.93 AMD electricity subsidies will no longer be provided). But since business received no subsidy, the reduction will prove real and will constitute 5-7 per cent.
