YEREVAN. – Victims of Hiroshima bombing were commemorated in Yerevan near the Peace Stone installed in children’s park.

This is one of the 188 tiles retrieved from the pavement of the railway near the bank of a river located 200 m far from the ground zero.

The inscription on the monument reads: "Let all the souls here rest in peace for we shall not repeat the evil."

The event was attended by Japan’s Ambassador to Armenia Eiji Taguchi.

The U bomb code-named "Little Boy" was targeted at the city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 by the US bomber B-29 Enola Gay, resulting in the deaths of 70-100 thousand people in one second. By the end of 1945, the number of the dead reached 140,000. The United States dropped the second atomic bomb on the city of Nagasaki on August 9. Consequently, 60-80,000 people died.
