Absolute record of hourly amount of precipitation has been set in Moscow, Vesti reports, citing the website of HydroMetCentre of Russia.

The record of the hourly amount has significantly grown for August 15, topping the record levels of 1887, 2003 and 1970 respectively. According to principle VDNKh weather station of Moscow, 91 mm precipitation has fallen from 6 o’clock on Sunday to 6 o’clock on Monday (118% of monthly norm).  102 mm fell during the same period in Balchug.

The steady rain has resulted in serious floods in the streets and pedestrian subways of the capital. Yauza river has overflowed. All the city services are working in an intensified regime.

The foul weather didn’t sidetrack Yaroslavl, Tula and other districts of the country. Moscow hadn’t seen such an anomalous rainfall for already 130 years. Nevertheless, the meteorologists are calming down: The rain will already stop at night and tomorrow will be mainly clear, even the sun may appear.
