Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bahram Qassemi announced Monday that Russian military jets’ use of an Iranian airbase has ended for the time being, reported Tasnim News Agency of Iran.

Qassemi said Russian warplanes used the Nojeh airbase near Iran’s western city of Hamedan to hit terrorist groups in Syria.

On August 20, Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Hossein Dehghan said the Russian aircrafts use the base within the framework of mutual cooperation and fighting against terrorists.

Dehghan also ruled out any plans for permitting Russian jets to use other Iranian bases at the moment, but said this matter would be discussed in case of such a need.
