Car mechanic Sergey Sedrakyan, 25, charged with robbery, cut his own belly by a blade in the court room after the pronouncement of his sentence.

In August 2015, Sergey Sedrakyan was detained by the police on suspicion of robbery.  According to the law enforcement officers, the detainee had organized an attack on the car of businessmen he knew for the purpose of stealing large amount of money.

The convict said a household conflict had sparked between him and the aggrieved party, this not being accompanied by an attempt to rob. Sedrakyan’s wife confirmed to MK correspondent the version of her husband, noting that after the conflict she herself turned to the police with a complaint against the businessmen. But despite this, the police detained not the businessmen, but Sedrakyan, after which he was charged with robbery.

During the trial on August 18, the Lyubertsy court sentenced Sergey Sedrakyan to 5 years in prison. After the court verdict, the convict took out a hidden blade and cut his belly as a sign of protest.  The bailiffs took Sedrakyan to a hospital, where he received medical assistance. Currently, the man’s life isn’t endangered.

The convict’s attorney stated that the defense is going to appeal the decision.
