The recognition of NKR independence by Armenia is not quite right, as it will hinder the Minsk Group efforts, MP from Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Karen Avagyan told NEWS.am.
According to him, Armenia already recognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic de facto. “NKR de juro recognition has always been the question. I cannot recall a state to recognize the country’s independence by a bill. The Presidents are to settle the issue,” he said.
Referring to the recent tragic events in the Armenian army and Republican Party’s silence on the matter, Avagyan said. “Army has an important role in the society and cannot be an isolated oasis. Certainly, there are conflicts in the armed forces, however, the army leadership set a task to solve them. Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan is concerned most of all. However, the existing problems are sometimes exaggerated. Such conflicts must not affect the army under war or peace conditions,” Avagyan stressed.
