In the first quarter of 2016, Armenia more than twice increased the export of men’s wear, as per the report of the Customs Service of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia for the first quarter of 2016.

This happened thanks to the growth of orders from EU, as well as pretty much due to the entrance to the Russian market (outerwear was not exported there before).

In the first quarter of 2015, the export of articles of clothing (not winter ones) for men and boys amounted to $4.12 mln, whereas in the first quarter of 2016 the figure already reached $9.58 mln. The export of similar wear for women drastically grew from $210,000 to $4.7 mln.

In particular, Armenia began exporting to Russia. If trousers, blazers and jackets were not exported to Russia at all, since the beginning of 2016 Armenia started exporting immediately $3.7 and 4.3 mln men’s and women’s wear respectively.

The export to Germany and Italy also grew, local garment factories (operating on Italian and German capital in Vanadzor and Amasia cities in northern Armenia) working on the orders from these countries. The export to Germany and Italy increased from $3.3 to $5.2 mln and 520 to 620,000 respectively.

Export of warm outerwear for women and men also slightly increased, from $8 to $9.1 mln and from $7.2 to $8.8 mln respectively. The entrance to the Russian market also contributed to this (by $3.4 and $2.5 mln respectively).
