YEREVAN. – A celebratory reception devoted to the 194th anniversary of Brazil’s independence was held Wednesday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The event brought together Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ashot Hovakimian, diplomats accredited in Armenia, public and political figures, and Brazilian university students in Armenia.

Brazilian Ambassador to Armenia Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro expressed joy for the opportunity to enjoy Armenian hospitality. In his words, Armenia and Brazil have great opportunities for the development of bilateral cooperation.

Also, Ambassador Monteiro congratulated the Armenian athletes who have brought gold and silver medals to Armenia from the 2016 Summer Olympics that were in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Deputy FM Hovakimian, for his part, congratulated the ambassador and the Brazilian people on behalf of the Armenian government, on the occasion of the 194th anniversary of Brazil’s independence. He also stressed that the recent years have been very important for the two countries.
