YEREVAN. – According to official statistics, the average prices of goods and services in Armenia were 1.9 percent lower in August than a year ago.

Deflation has started in Armenia since last year, and it was mainly due to the fall in aggregate demand.

People in Armenia are buying fewer goods, but, unlike last year, they pay less for it.

Retail trade is dropping in Armenia. Even though stores in the country have sold more goods than a year ago, they have received fewer profits.

Although average retail trade prices have dropped in Armenia, people in the country have begun to buy these products less.

Average prices of fruits as well as vegetables and potatoes also have dropped in Armenia in August.
