YEREVAN. – Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan, who has been nominated as the next Prosecutor General, has kicked off his respective talks with the National Assembly (NA) factions.

Pursuant to the law, the Armenian attorney general candidate must meet with all parliamentary factions.

Subsequently, the NA will debate this candidacy, and then decide on it by secret ballot.

The Prosecutor General of Armenia is elected for a six-year term by the parliament, and with the nomination by the President.

On August 4, then attorney general Gevorg Kostanyan had petitioned to President Sargsyan, asked him to accept his resignation due to health problems, and the President had accepted his resignation.
