YEREVAN. – There is a need to be renewed, Vahram Baghdasaryan, head of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) National Assembly Faction, on Friday told reporters.

He stated this reflecting on the expected dismissals in the government.

“As to in which domains there is a need for renewal, we will discuss that,” said Baghdasaryan. “We have not discussed names.”

As per the RPA MP, structural changes are possible not solely in the new government, but in a variety of systems in Armenia.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan on Thursday resigned arguing that he failed to eliminate the polarization of Armenian society.

The only candidate for the new PM is Karen Karapetyan, former mayor of capital city Yerevan, and former general director of ArmRosGazprom natural gas company.

During the RPA Board meeting later in the evening, his candidacy for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia was approved.
