YEREVAN. – Koryun Nahapetyan, Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, on Monday confirmed to reporters that the country’s representative will replace Nikolay Bordyuzha as Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), since Armenia is chairing this organization in the current year.

“At this time, I can’t mention [any names] associated with a specific candidacy,” stressed Nahapetyan. “But it’s definite that it will be a representative of Armenia. 

“Armenia representative’s designation to the office of the CSTO Secretary General is certainly beneficial to us. But we should not exaggerate and think that with this fact alone, we can expect the most advantageous solutions in all matters that are important to us.”
