The forthcoming visit to Armenia by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will be a turning point in Iran-Armenia bilateral relations. 

Iranian Ambassador to Seyed Kazzem Sajjadi told the aforesaid to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA), reported ParsToday news agency of Iran.

In his words, presidents of the two countries have stated that there are no obstacles standing in the way of the expansion of bilateral relations.

“The decline in [Armenia’s] trade exchanges with Iran was very small, as compared with the others [i.e. countries], which is considered a positive point in bilateral relations,” Sajjadi specifically said.

The Iranian diplomat noted that economic and political relations of the two countries were maintained on excellent level during the blockades.

“In the new era, the [Iranian] government is endeavoring to further expand relations with Armenia,” added Ambassador Sajjadi.

And in response to a query on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Iranian diplomat stressed, in particular: “Should the conflicting parties [i.e. the Armenian and the Azerbaijani] wish, Iran stands ready to collaborate toward the settlement of the conflict.”
