YEREVAN. – Over the course of time, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) will more highly assess the law enforcement and judicial system of Armenia.

Deputy Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, who has been nominated as the next Prosecutor General of the country, on Tuesday stated the abovementioned in Parliament.

In his words, the ECtHR assessments reduce over time. As per Davtyan, Armenia needs to be consistent in this regard, since the European Court publicizes its assessments of legal processes in individual countries.

“We take note of the ECtHR approach during the training of prosecutors,” added Artur Davtyan. “And in the future, any prosecutor or investigator [in Armenia] needs to be more consistent in maintaining this approach.”
