In the talks round Karabakh, Azerbaijan stresses the principle of inviolability of borders, while Armenia must show that that principle contradicts reality.

Secretary of Orinats Yerkir faction, Mher Shahgeldyan, stated the aforementioned in the Armenian National Assembly (NA) Tuesday.

In his words, back in the 90s a conception was born in political science according to which the borders on the Balkans-South Caucasus-Middle East axis are changing and this process will continue. Instances of this are Kosovo, South Sudan, and - on the other end of the world - East Timor, which gained independence, as well as Hong Kong, which joined China, he added.

“Crimea is also among them: a number of western political forces showed understanding towards or supported its annexation to Russia. We must withdraw from the conservative approach and seek to enshrine in the international law that the principle of inviolability of borders no longer works in practice,” Shahgeldyan stressed.
