YEREVAN. - The agreement with the authorities on the Electoral Code of Armenia has been reached, this paving the way to fair elections.

The leader of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) faction, Levon Zurabyan, said the aforementioned at the ceremony of signing an agreement with the opposition on the amendments to the Electoral Code, which will relate to the re-equipment of polling stations.

The demands of the political forces of Armenia, which once seemed impossible, are coming into reality now. The impossible is turning into possible. It is also necessary  to thank the representatives of the civil society for this. The coalition's will and readiness to hold a dialogue cannot go unnoticed either, Zurbayan noted.

''The civil society carried out great work and has now stated about the agreement. We have stated from the very beginning that nothing is acceptable for us if it is unacceptable for them. Now they assess the agreement positively and consider it as a guarantee which will increase the public's confidence towards the elections,'' the MP stressed.  

Finally, the amount required for installing surveillance cameras at the polling stations has been found: The international donors guaranteed that they will provide 9 mln euro.

''The necessary foundation has been laid; Now let's move on to fair elections,'' Zurabyan concluded.
