YEREVAN. – Ambassador Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe (CoE), attended a high-level forum on human rights.

The event, which was convened in Paris, was devoted to the future of the CoE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his remarks at the forum, Ambassador Hovhannisyan underscored the accomplishments of the CoE, and its part in the protection of the rights of all individuals living in Europe.

He stressed that even though the environment has changed dramatically since the foundation of the CoE, its mandate has remained the same.

The Armenian diplomat also noted that many challenges facing this organization may have been avoided if all member countries had made greater efforts to implement the statutory objectives of the Council of Europe.
