YEREVAN. - Not only we, but also the Islamic Republic of Iran appraises the capacities of Armenia.
Head of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) faction Vahram Baghdasaryan told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am, touching on the recent statement of the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia on Yerevan’s participation in Persian Gulf-Black Sea corridor initiated by Tehran.
According to him, Armenia has quite promising programs with Iran. “I don’t want to speak of these programs beforehand, but we have lots of agreements with Iran. We cooperate with our neighbors to the extent possible. We have long-term projects both in the sphere of economy and parliamentary diplomacy, and we must implement these projects,” Baghdasaryan stressed.
To the question as to whether there are any specific agreements or drafted documents which are to be signed in the framework of the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Armenia, the MP noted that that issue has not yet been discussed.
“But when the date of the Iranian President’s visit is confirmed, we will hold a discussion and inform you about that additionally,” Baghdasaryan said.
In his recent interview, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Seyed Kazzem Sajjadi characterized Iran as the initiator of Persian Gulf-Black Sea corridor. He also noted that the corridor will be created with the participation of Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan. Sajjadi expressed hope that the corridor will diversify the transportation lines of Europe and Iran.
