The probability of Iran-Armenia railway construction is very high if the field of economic feasibility is fully ensured.

The Armenian National Assembly (NA) MP Vardan Ayvazyan, who is also the Chairman of the standing Committee on Economic Affairs, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am, touching on the upcoming visit of the Iranian President to Armenia and the expected agreements.

In his words, the project on the Iran-Armenia railway construction has been drawn out.  “But it should be subjected to economic calculations, that is, it is necessary to consider the volume of the transportations and investments.  All this is still questionable. In terms of politics, this is a brilliant idea for both Armenia and Iran, but the economic calculations should also be taken into account,” Ayvazyan added.

Earlier, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Seyed Kazzem Sajjadi stated that the forthcoming visit to Armenia by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will be a turning point in Iran-Armenia bilateral relations. He also characterized Iran as the initiator of Persian Gulf-Black Sea corridor. He also noted that the corridor will be created with the participation of Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan. Sajjadi expressed hope that the corridor will diversify the transportation lines of Europe and Iran.
