YEREVAN. - If Iran is taking steps towards an economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, one shouldn’t suppose this is done to the prejudice of Armenia.

Armenia’s ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Vardan Ayvazyan, who is also the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary and Economic Affairs, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Touching on the agreements reached in Baku between the presidents of Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan round the energy sphere, specifically gas supplies, the MP noted that Azerbaijan has gas resources and the issue concerns a different route here.

“Azerbaijan’s task is to supply its gas resources to the international market. All the countries of the Caspian Sea have different economic formats. These are economic projects which can also lead to political consequences. This shouldn’t be discussed in the context of contradistinctions, but instead be considered in the framework of mutually beneficial agreements,” Ayvazyan said.

 

 

 

“Iran is a friendly country for us. Apart from this, in the presence of joint Armenian-Iranian projects, the flow of the Iranian goods to the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will pass by the territory of Armenia and in the conditions of customs duties lowered by 30 percent. This is an opportunity which can be taken advantage of,” Ayvazyan concluded.
