YEREVAN. – The Master’s degree is not established in Armenia because the market demand is not taken into account.

Armenian Public Council member, Goris State University Rector Artush Ghukasyan, noted the aforesaid at Friday’s working consultation of the council.

The Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, Levon Mkrtchyan, also attended the event.

Ghukasyan stated that a general ideology of education needs to be developed in Armenia, and it shall coordinate the entire field of education in the country.

He also expressed concern that the12-year education system hinders competition, since schoolchildren with the best grades shall go to high schools. 

Reflecting on the state of education in the provinces of Armenia, Artush Ghukasyan considered the less number of applicants to universities, and the less number of children in the schools to be the major problems.

He deemed the deepening of the educational component in the provinces to be a key factor in achieving a balanced regional development in Armenia.
