On October 15, the delegation headed by Armenian Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan met with President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Marios Garoyian in Nicosia, RA NA press service informed NEWS.am.
Marios Garoyian stressed Cypriot Armenian greatly contributed to the development of Armenia-Cyprus friendly relations. He expressed readiness to organize an exhibition on Armenia in the Cypriot Parliament, which will enable Cypriots to better get familiarized with Armenia and Armenian culture. Garoyian stressed Armenia may rely on support by Cyprus within international agencies.
Abrahamyan attached significance to expansion of bilateral economic and cultural cooperation and exchange of experience for Armenian legislation to meet EU standards. RA NA Speaker made a point of Armenia-Cyprus cooperation within international agencies, particularly in OSCE, NATO and CSTO Parliamentary Assemblies.
Later, the Armenian delegation visited Armenian “Narek” gymnasium in Nicosia and laid wreath at Armenian Genocide victims’ memorial.
Hovik Abrahamyan also met with Mayor of Nicosia Eleni Mavru. The Armenian Parliamentarians arrived at Cypriot-Turkish contact line and visited Lefkara cultural complex.
