The former Prime Minister of Portugal António Guterres is a clear favorite among the candidates for the position of the UN Secretary General. Probably, this position will be confirmed by the UN Security Council vote, which is scheduled on October 6, reports the TASS, based on the announcement of Russia's permanent representative to the organization Vitaly Churkin.

"Today after our sixth straw poll we have a clear favorite and his name is Antonio Guterres… We wish Mr. Guterres well in discharging his duties as the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the next five years,” said Churkin.
