YEREVAN. - Some Armenian deputies would better learn how the western countries protect their society from outside influence.

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Hayk Babukhanyan said the aforementioned in the parliament on Thursday.

In his words, Armenia should do the same, keeping in mind its neighbors and surrounding. “Dear colleagues, referring to the European practice of liberty! Pay attention to the example of the UK, which has recently stated that it is derogating from two points of the [European] Convention of Human Rights during times of war, since those points are disadvantageous to its national interests.

For some reasons some of those present didn’t stand up and say: “And what about the European practice?” “And what about the Convention?” And so forth. Also consider the examples of Israel and U.S. I’ll also mention the example, which horrifies everyone - the example of Russia, which very well protects its national interests and introduced the definition of ‘foreign agent’ in its legislation, which was a very correct thing to do,” Babukhanyan said. 

Under the Armenian legislation on NGOs, subdivisions of international or foreign organizations operating in Armenia shall not include in their regulations such provisions which will contradict to the country’s legislation, otherwise their operation may be terminated upon the decision of the court.
