YEREVAN. - The NGOs receiving over 5 mln AMD state funds annually will have to undergo mandatory audit under the draft amendments to the Law on NGOs and accompanying bills introduced by the Government.

According to Armenian Justice Minister Arpine Hovhannisyan, accountability is needed if state funds are involved. In this case it is necessary to present not only a report, but also an audit conclusion. Of course, the issue of tax deductions in the amount of audit expenses can be considered, she added.  

 “Everything carried out by the funds of the taxpayers should be available to the society. People should know where their money goes,” said Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, Elinar Vardanyan.
