YEREVAN. – In recent years, the European Union (EU) has allocated €46 million for conducting reforms in the justice sector of Armenia. 

Dirk Lorenz, Head of the Political, Economic, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Armenia, on Friday stated the aforesaid, as he presented the mid-term results of the projects which the Council of Europe and the EU have envisioned for Armenia.

Speaking to reporters after presenting these results, Lorenz explained that they work with various measures. First, the EU and Armenian organizations share their know-how. The second is technical support, and they have prepared legislative initiatives. And the third is the budget sector.

The EU official noted, however, that even though there is progress in this domain in Armenia, the fight against corruption needs to continue.

Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia Suren Krmoyan stated, for his part, that the allocated amount was used for making changes, including the changing of the Criminal Code of the country.
