According to the information at Haykakan Zhamanak daily’s disposal, PACE Co-Rapporteur on Armenia John Prescott held a private meeting with Speaker of Armenian National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan in Yerevan.

No official information on the meeting is available. However, according to the source, the officials discussed release of the political prisoners for Armenia to evade a fuss in PACE. The point is Prescott will soon pay a fact-finding visit to Armenia and make a report, in which he must touch upon the issue of political prisoners as well.

Thomas Hammarberg, CE Commissioner for Human Rights will also arrive in Armenia in January 2011 and discuss the issue of political prisoners.
