It is not planned to install cameras in the units of the Armenian army, as eyes of the commanders are like cameras, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told the reporters today.

He assured that their “eyesight” would improve year after year. Ohanyan stressed that some commanders do not work hard and have low level of training. However, on the whole command staff is working well. “None of the commanders wants any incidents to happen in his unit. If an incident occurs, public becomes aware of it immediately. It testifies to openness of the Armenian armed forces,” the Minister stated, adding that incidents occurred in the past as well.

“Our motto was – stable process of reforms, this year it has transformed into – stable progress to reforms,” he noted. The Minister also said that the number of contractors will be increased this year. According to him, professional units will be created in the army as well. Special attention will be drawn to educational programs of soldiers and officers that will contribute to strengthening of discipline in the army.
