RoomGuru.ru hotel search engine has determined the most popular destinations of gastronomy tourism for Russian citizens in fall 2016.

The rating is based on the search data of hotels with good cuisine in the cities which hosted gastronomic festivals in the period between 1 September to 30 November 2016.   

The top 5 gastronomic destinations most popular with Russian tourists include Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Italy.

According to RoomGuru.ru, people who chose hotels with good cuisine on average pay 4.3 thousand rubles per day for accommodation, which is 40 percent more than the rest of tourists do.

On September 12 – 13 Akhtala town of Armenia hosted a barbecue festival. Apart from this wine festivals were held in country’s Areni and Rind villages in late September and early November respectively.   

On October 29, Gandagana Festival of folklore and culinary traditions of Adjara villages was held in Batumi. Azerbaijan hosts Pomegranate Festival from 23 October to 15 November. Minsk is holding the first Gastronomic festival in its city restaurants from 15 October to 12 November. Top 5 Russian cities popular for gastronomic tourism in fall include Moscow, St. Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Sevastopol and Novorossiysk.
