YEREVAN. - There is no need to let emotions flow in the issue of Amulsar gold mine.

Armenian Minister of Nature Protection, Artsvik Minasyan, stated the aforementioned to journalists Wednesday, commenting on the protests of activists against extractions in the mining site.

According to him, the project has been repeatedly checked but no violations were revealed therein. The representatives of the company owning the mine (Lydian Armenia) have repeatedly expressed readiness to discuss any calls from the public sector.

“Around $400 mln is involved in this project, this requiring a careful approach both in the interests of investors and future generations. Part of the environmental activists tries to gamble on any hot issue, striking a cord among people and crying mottos like “Let’s save our homeland,” etc. I don’t support shows at all. Issues should be discussed on merits. Such discussions were and will be held again, if needed. All the more so as we have indeed literate and responsible ecologists,” Minasyan noted.
