At least a person was killed and around 30 were injured as a result of car bombing in Diyarbakir, southeast of Turkey, The Guardian reported.

It was not immediately clear what caused the blast in the Baglar district but the explosion resounded through the city and ambulances rushed to the scene.

The police sealed off the scene. Police helicopters were patrolling.

The attack followed the overnight arrests of 11 lawmakers from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), the member of which are mainly the Kurds living in the region, as well as leftists and progressives throughout Turkey.
