The construction of new roads revived Armenian-populated region Javakheti, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili stated.

“Local residents were completely isolated from the rest of Georgia. Previously it was easier for them to get to Yerevan, all the products were exported to Armenia. They did not need to learn the Georgian language.  For this reason, it had a political aspect as well,” Saakashvili told the governmental officials.

“New sorts of cheese are imported to Tbilisi markets due to a new Javakheti-Tbilisi road.  This is the reason both Armenians and Azerbaijanis are on friendly terms and implement joint projects. There is a mutual understanding and cooperation between them, stated Saakashvili, Rosbalt reports.

Over 36 concrete and 32 asphalt producing plants are operating in Georgia due to construction of new roads.
