YEREVAN. – Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Levon Mkrtchyan received Mikhail Shvydkoy, the Russian President's Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation; and Oleg Shapovalov, Special Counselor to the Embassy of Russia in Yerevan.

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the Ministry of Education and Science that the minister said, despite Armenia’s historical friendly relations with Russia in the educational and cultural sector, today’s youth in Armenia have certain challenges with respect to Russian language proficiency and access to contemporary Russian professional literature.

Shvydkoy, for his part, expressed willingness to assist Armenia in developing methodical manuals for teaching Russian as a foreign language and training Russian language teachers, and in several other joint projects to be implemented in this domain.
