YEREVAN. – Infant mortality in Armenia has reduced, between January and September.

Karine Kuyumjyan, Head of the Census and Demography Division at the National Statistical Service, said the aforementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.

As per Kuyumjyan, the mortality rate of children up to 1-year-old in the country totaled 8.6 during this period—against 9.1 in 2015, per one thousand people; this rate was 9.1 for boys, and 8—for girls.

And in the case of children up to 4-years-old, the mortality rate was 10—or 298 children, as compared to 10.9—or 333 children—in the same period in 2015.

Also, eight women died due to complications during pregnancy, or after childbirth, in Armenia.
