The restoration of Armenia’s Haghartsin Monastery Complex by the Sheikh of Sharjah is the best manifestation of interreligious dialogue.

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), said the aforementioned at the meeting with the current ruler of Sharjah emirate, Sheikh Sultan III bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi on Thursday.

The Armenian President highly appreciated the Sheikh’s personal contribution to the deepening of Armenian-UAE relations in a number of areas, the press-service of the Armenian President informs Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Sargsyan specifically thanked Sheikh Sultan III bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi for his direct support to the complete restoration of Haghartsin Monastery Complex and construction of a hospice by it, stressing that the Sheik’s visit to Armenia years go has left its trace in the ties of both countries, the aforementioned exemplary and pious step being the best manifestation of interreligious dialogue and tolerance.

The President also appreciated the direct role of Sheikh Sultan III bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi in opening an Armenian trade and economic center in Sharjah, attaching special importance to that step in terms of the development of bilateral trade and economic ties and their further deepening.  Sargsyan also noted that through its activity the center will contribute to the development of bilateral economic ties.

The interlocutors agreed that one of the first routes of the direct flights between the two friendly countries was Sharjah-Yerevan-Sharjah, whose current regularity is vividly indicative of the growth of mutual interest.

At the meeting with the Sheikh, Sargsyan also touched on Armenia’s wish to activate relations with different UAE investment and development funds, for which certain agreements have already been reached in the framework of the visit.
