YEREVAN. - According to attorney and traffic accident expert Nikolay Baghdasaryan, it is illogical to have unregulated pedestrian crossing on a highway.

Commenting upon the request of Armenian News – NEWS.am on the lawfulness of fixing no more than 60km/h speed within the city, the expert noted that under point 70 of the Driving Regulations the competent authorities have such a right.

“It is another issue that there is no law banning or regulating the places, where there must be a pedestrian crossing. It is illogical to install a sign allowing to drive at 60 km/h and then another sign of pedestrian crossing. I agree that this may result in an accident,” Baghdasaryan said.

Some roads in Yerevan, where the allowed speed reaches 70 km/h (and sometimes 80km/h), are equipped with unregulated pedestrian crossings, abrupt braking thus often resulting in accidents.
