YEREVAN. - The Defense Ministry of Armenia will welcome the farmers' contribution to the army.

Defense Minister of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan stated the aforementioned in the parliament on Monday, speaking at the debate on the bill on paying 1000 AMD to servicemen’s insurance fund. It is proposed to put the bill into effect from 28 January 2017, the day marking the 25th anniversary of the Armed Forces.

Responding to the question of Prosperous Armenia Party MP Mikayel Melkumyan as to whether the farmers will also have to pay this amount (since they are not considered wage workers), the Minister noted that the insurance fund will propose farmers to make their contribution in accordance with their  abilities.
