It is already nine years, that ongoing military operations make local people of Syria face difficulties. The production of food in this country has reached a record low rates. Nine million people in Syria live under the threat of famine and malnutrition, conclude experts of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, after their visit to Syria, reports the radio of the UN.

As the representative of the project Alessandro Costantino said, at the beginning of the war, the Syrian cities suffered a shortage of food. Nowadays, the Syrian villages are under the threat of famine as well. The deficit has led to the increase of food prices. However, devaluation of the local currency and economic sanctions does not allow farmers to receive their expected income.
