The Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to have Russia withdrawn from the International Criminal Court in Hague. Vladimir Putin has instructed the UN Secretary General to announce about Russia’s intention of pulling out membership form the ICC Rome status.

The statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry reads: " the International Criminal Court has not justified hopes placed upon it and did not become a truly independent and authoritative judicial body." The ministry adds, that it is a fact that the ICC has issued only 4 verdicts in 14 years, whereas spending billions of dollars, reports the RIA Novosti.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has accused the International Criminal Court for being biased regarding August 2008 events and insists, that it was Georgia that attacked the peaceful city of Tskhinvali.
