International Men’s Day (IMD) is an annual international event celebrated on November 19.
Inaugurated in 1992 on February 7 by Thomas Oaster, the project was re-initialized in Trinidad and Tobago, and its citizens were the first to observe IMD on November 19, 1999, reported Calend.ru.
The event was conceived and coordinated by Jerome Teelucksingh from The University of the West Indies in Port of Spain, the capital city of Trinidad and Tobago.
He proposed to create a holiday that will stress men’s positive role in family and society.
And as the day for this holiday, Teelucksingh proposed November 19, the birthday of his father, whom he considered to be an exemplary father.
