An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 hit not far from Argentina’s western city of San Juan on Monday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported.

The tremors were recorded at 02:57 GMT. The epicenter of the earthquake, which struck at a depth of 40 kilometers, lies 31 kilometers south of San Juan.

There was no information on casualties and destructions.
