YEREVAN. -- San Francisco based tech journalist Yukari Iwatani Kane says Armenians must use their potential and differences, which actually seems a deficiency, for becoming a tech hub in the region.   She told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am during the Empowering Ideas: Startups and Development Tech Forum that took place in Yerevan.

“You have different point of view than those in Silicon Valley, where almost everyone came from the same background. There’s no need to be like Silicon Valley thinkers, you should use your uniqueness and different background”, Kane states. “Of course, Silicon Valley is the world tech hub with money, support and etc., but in my opinion, its greatest weakness is that Silicon Valley is very “Silicon Valley centered” and people there think only about the world that is inside”.

WSJ journalist insists, our advantage is that we are outside: for becoming successful we don’t even have to be inside.

“In Silicon Valley people mainly don’t understand, that there are countries, for example, where not everyone has a computer. I mean, you know your region better, along with your problems, so the solutions you can provide are much better, than those provided by Silicon Valley. Just use this advantage”.
