Washington appreciates Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s efforts to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, stated Spokesman for U.S. State Department Philip J. Crowley, ITAR-TASS reports.
“We appreciate President Medvedev’s personal efforts to reach this agreement, which aims to build confidence between the parties and to strengthen the 1994 ceasefire,” said Crowley. “This joint statement represents a positive development in the ongoing OSCE Minsk Group process to reach a peaceful resolution to the conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh and we look forward to seeing its implementation as soon as possible.”
As NEWS.am reported previously, on October 27, Armenian, Azerbaijan and Russian Presidents met in Astrakhan on Dmitry Medvedev’s initiative. The parties discussed the current situation, prospects for Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution and made a joint statement.
