Renowned escape artist Dean Gunnarson clawed his way out of the earth after two days buried alive, MIGnews.com reports.

“Happy Halloween, Harry” said Gunnarson, dirty and staggering after emerging from his steel case. On October 29, 2010, he was locked into chains, bound and buried alive in Winnipeg.

He told the crowd to watch the stunt as he did not know how much energy he’d have after staying 40 hours without food or water.

It was cold and damp and Gunnarson could hear the rumbling of the trains about 180 meters away.

The artist timed his escape to be as close as possible to the exact moment that Harry Houdini died in 1926 at 1:26 p.m. According to him, it was a stunt Houdini never tried.
